GitHub Nest Shield
Corporate Office Solution
The Nest is the Audio/Video control center in GitHub’s headquarters. A risk factor was recognized for the area’s tens of thousands of dollars worth of A/V equipment. An elegant, visually low-profile acrylic shield was designed and fabricated on-site.
The Problem
The surrounding wall doubled as a table-height ledge for bleacher seating. Someone attending a presentation might inadvertently knock food or drink onto sensitive, expensive equipment.

Material Challenge
After requesting quotes, local fabrication specialists said bending such large pieces of acrylic would be impossible. However, through experimentation with computationally accurate 3D-printed mold joinery, curved sheet metal for even heat conduction, and slow incremental bending, the design was achieved.

Final Installation
Custom 3D-printed mounting couplings compensated for varying overhang depths. The installed Nest Shield was delivered on schedule to ‘beyond-satisfactory’ completion and can be seen in GitHub’s headquarters today.
