Adjust
Corporate Office Design
In 2017, the Berlin-based tech company Adjust opened its San Francisco office in the historic Anglo Bank at 500 Montgomery St. From concept to CAD, fabrication to installation, successful interior design strategies were created to convert bank vaults into acoustically intelligent meeting spaces.
The Door Problem
The antique ornate vault doors required extreme force to open, and ADA compatibility concerns meant they had to remain open at all times. A ceiling-mounted sound-dampening sliding door solution was proposed.

The Threshold
A threshold was designed that provided both function and aesthetic homage to the bank vault’s former utility. Newly polished and green-oxidized pennies formed the company’s logo, sealed with a 1/2" epoxy coating.

Acoustics
The bank vaults were essentially steel boxes with thin concrete lining, creating problematic echoing. Natural sound-dampening elements like soft wood and moss greenery were chosen instead of synthetic acoustic paneling.

COVID-19 Response
During the 2020 pandemic, comprehensive COVID-19 workplace guidelines were developed for Adjust's San Francisco office, addressing safe reopening scenarios, sanitation protocols, and social distancing strategies for 150+ employees.
