Navetta
Autonomous Delivery Robot
As interns at SF-based Marble Robotics in 2016, the team explored autonomous last-mile delivery. The Navetta concept combined nature-inspired aesthetics with cutting-edge navigation technology featuring a compartmentalized cargo bay capable of 'cargo pooling' deliveries.
The Last-Mile Problem
The last mile of any shipment to an urban destination is always the least efficient part of the delivery system due to traffic, pedestrians, and the high employee-to-package ratio. Marble envisioned that costly last mile being performed by autonomous delivery modules.

Nature Meets Technology
Intrigued by the heeling dog’s form and our natural inclination to trust its behavior, shapes were abstracted while considering functionality. Autonomous technology should symbolize loyalty, reliability, and foster user connection and empathy.

The Navetta V1.0
‘Navetta’ translates from Italian as ‘Shuttle,’ a nod to both its function as a conveyance and forward-looking applications. A third pair of wheels extend to provide lift and stability over curbs and uneven terrain.
