Dreamshell
Google VR Headset Concept
A new VR concept where the controllers charge wirelessly via the headset as it is elegantly displayed cord-free while not in use. The Dreamshell is a product of a 3-week concept sprint.
The Challenge
After years of innovation in VR, Google discontinued its Daydream platform. The hardware challenge: How will Google create a VR headset that fits its new IoT design language of Human, Optimistic, and Bold?
The Opportunity
Google has mastered the art of fitting world-class technology into elegant forms that are not hidden from view, but are an accessory to any room. Cords, headgear, and bulky controllers mean most VR hardware is difficult to display elegantly.
Design Details
Sloped megalith form with curved fabric faces. The controllers charge wirelessly via the headset. The Chrome logo inspires the headset tightening mechanism. Existing HDMI ports enable super-charging VR with PC power.
